Department of Home Science and GPEM of Kanoria PG Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Jaipur successfully organized a three-day (14th-16th May 2026) Hands-on workshop on Textile Dyeing and Printing with the objective of providing students practical exposure to various traditional and modern textiles. Principal Dr. Seema Agarwal encouraged the students to actively participate and make the best use of the opportunity to develop practical skills and creative abilities. On the first day (14-05-2026) of the workshop, resource person Mrs. Papiya Banerjee, Assistant Professor, Department of GPEM, Kanoria PG Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Jaipur introduced the students about the basic concepts of textile dyeing and printing. She explained the importance of these techniques in the field of textiles, fashion, and home furnishing. Her session provided students with theoretical knowledge about different methods of dyeing and printing. On the second day, (15-05-2026) session was conducted by Ms. Nikku Singh Shekhawat, Assistant Professor, Department of Home Science, Shri Bhawani Niketan PG Mahila Mahavidhylaya Jaipur. She demonstrated various tie-and-dye techniques such as Leheriya, Pleating, Bandhani, Shibori and Marbling. She also demonstrated pretreatment of fabric, preparation of dye bath for dyeing the fabric. On the third day (16-05-2026) students learnt about Block printing and Screen printing techniques. The resource person explained the proper setting of the printing table, preparation of colours, placement of blocks and screens, and shared useful tips and tricks for achieving neat and effective prints. The workshop proved to be highly enriching, informative, and interactive for all participants. Around 60 students actively participated in the workshop.
