Objectives

  • To promote an interdisciplinary space for research and teaching on Gender through the lens of Feminism.
  • To examine how gender is not only influenced by popular culture and private life, but also has an impact on law and social policies.
  • To bring together a community of students  for cross-pollination of ideas across
  • To seek possible solutions to bridge the gap among all sections of the society.
  • To facilitate student-led activities and initiatives such as workshops, symposiums, and awareness drives to enable conversation around complex issues related to gender and women that are underrepresented in public discourse.

Activities

2023-24

  • Guest lecture on “Global Issues: Gender Equality and Women Empowerment” on 13th September 2023 by Prof. Lad Kumari Jain Retd. Professor, President Women Commission, Jaipur. 
  • An awareness session and survey on the topic Gender Biasness in Mahatma Gandhi Govt. School Someshwarpuri, Jaipur on 30th September, 2023. 
  • Poster Making Competition on the occasion of International Girl Child Day i.e. 11th October 2023. The theme for the Competition was “Digital Generation, Our Generation, Our Time is Now – Our Rights, Our Future”. 
  • A visit to Indian Women Impact NGO run by Anastassiya Savchenko at Sitaram Kachhi Basti Triveni, Jaipur was organised on 19th November 2023. 
  • Group discussion and group activity on the topic “Gender Inequality and Discrimination in India” on 21st December 2023 by Dr. Renuka Pamecha, President at Vividha, secretary of Mahila Punarvas samuh samiti and Convener of Mahila Salah Suraksha Kendra. 

2022-23

  • Inaugural Guest lecture on Gender Studies: what, when and how by Dr. Inakshi Chaturvedi to introduce students to Centre for Gender Studies.  Dr. Inakshi Chaturvedi, Retired Professor Department of Political Science, University of Rajasthan, was invited as guest speaker for enhancing knowledge of gender studies. Her lecture focussed on understanding the concept of gender equality and how it might be applicable in society.
  • Centre for Gender Studies of Kanoria PG Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Jaipur organized an event on ” Busting Body Myths : A Unique Chance to Embrace Your Body. The objective of this activity is to make students feel confident without being affected by their physical appearances.
  • Centre for Gender Studies organized a Poster making Competition on the theme ‘Gender Identity in Indian Society’ on November 23rd, 2022. Students give messages like Combating gender stereotypes, preventing Violence against women, guaranteeing equal accesss of women to justice.
  • Centre for Gender Studies of Kanoria PG Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Jaipur organized an awareness session on “We are your silent killers – Sanitary Napkins” by Neeta Agarwal and Leena Dewani, Health and Wellness Coach on December 7, 2022.
  • Impact of sanitary napkins on the health of women, menstrual hygiene and problems faced by women due to the use of wrong sanitary napkins were discussed in this session.
  • Centre for Gender Studies of Kanoria PG Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Jaipur organized an awareness session and survey on the topic “Gender Equality” on January 18, 2023. The aim of this compaign was to promote and encourage a general understanding of gender related challenges. 
  • Centre for Gender Studies, Kanoria PG Mahila Mahavidyalay organised anawareness session on menstrual hygiene and distributed sanitary napkins to students of Mahatma Gandhi Govt. Senior Secondary School Someshwari. The aim of the session is to sensitize and aware about the process, challenges and precautions of menstrual cycle.
