कानोड़िया पी.जी. महिला महाविद्यालय, जयपुर के महाविद्यालय की हीरक जयंती वर्षगांठ (60 गौरवशाली वर्ष) के उपलक्ष्य में दिनांक 30 जुलाई 2025 को आर.ए. पोद्दार ऑडिटोरियम में प्रसिद्ध अंग्रेजी नाटक ‘पिगमेलियन’ का अत्यंत सफल और भावनात्मक मंचन किया गया। यह नाटक महान नाटककार जॉर्ज बर्नार्ड शॉ द्वारा रचित है, जिसे 1939 में ऑस्कर अवार्ड से सम्मानित किया गया था, जिसमें भाषा, सामाजिक वर्ग और स्त्री अस्मिता जैसे ज्वलंत विषयों को व्यंग्यात्मक शैली में प्रस्तुत किया गया है। कार्यक्रम में महाविद्यालय निदेशक डॉ. रश्मि चतुर्वेदी, प्राचार्य डॉ. सीमा अग्रवाल, प्रबंध समिति के सदस्य सभी वर्तमान व्याख्याताएँ, महाविद्यालय से सेवानिवृत व्याख्याताएँ, छात्राएँ एवं उनके अभिभावक उपस्थित रहें। महाविद्यालय निदेशक ने कहा कि ऐसे सांस्कृतिक कार्यक्रम छात्राओं के समग्र विकास के लिए अत्यंत आवश्यक हैं। यह कार्यक्रम हमारे महाविद्यालय की परंपरा रही है जिसे हमें सफल बनाए रखना है। प्राचार्य डॉ. सीमा अग्रवाल ने छात्राओं के अभिनय, प्रस्तुति और सामाजिक संदेशों की प्रशंसा करते हुए इसे रचनात्मक प्रतिभा का उत्कृष्ट उदाहरण बताया। नाटक का निर्देशन डॉ. प्रीति शर्मा (विभागाध्यक्ष अग्रेंजी विभाग) द्वारा किया गया। उनके सशक्त निर्देशन, कलात्मक दृष्टिकोण और सजीव मंचीय प्रस्तुति ने दर्शकों को पूरी तरह से बांधे रखा। सह-निर्देशन ऋषिता शर्मा, भव्या पुरी एवं. अदिति पंकज द्वारा किया गया। मुख्य पात्रों में एलाइजा डूलिटिल की भूमिका में प्रिन्सी शर्मा ने एक साधारण फूल बेचने वाली लड़की के गरिमामय सामाजिक रूपांतरण को प्रभावशाली ढंग से प्रस्तुत किया। प्रोफेसर हिगिन्स की भूमिका में नियोनिका महर्षि और कर्नल पिकरिंग की भूमिका में पलक जैन रहीं। अन्य पात्रों जैसे मिसेज हिगिन्स, फ्रेडी, मिस्टर डूलिटिल आदि की भूमिकाएँ भी छात्राओं द्वारा जीवंतता से निभाई गईं। इस नाटक को सफल बनाने में आयोजन टीम जिसमें डॉ. टीना सिंह भदौरिया, डॉ. प्रेरणा सिंह लवानिया, डॉ. योगिता सोलंकी, डॉ. स्वीटी माथुर, डॉ. शीलू, डॉ. प्रगति नाटानी, डॉ. हर्षा शर्मा, डॉ. रेणू शक्तावत, डॉ. रचना गोस्वामी, डॉ. शुचि चौधरी, डॉ. प्रियंका अग्रवाल, डॉ. पारुल सिंह, चारुल शर्मा एवं अंजली जालू की महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका रहीं। इसके अतिरिक्त, कॉस्ट्यूम, मेकअप, संपादन, दृश्यकला और प्रबंधन समितियों की छात्राओें भी अपनी सक्रिय भूमिका निभाई। नाटक ने यह स्पष्ट संदेश दिया कि भाषा किसी उच्च वर्ग की विशेषता नहीं, बल्कि समाज में एक सत्ता का रूप बन चुकी है। स्त्री की पहचान केवल उसकी वाणी से नहीं, बल्कि आत्मसम्मान, विचार और आत्मबल से होती है।
On the occasion of Diamond Jubilee (celebrating 60 glorious years), Kanoria P.G. Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Jaipur, successfully staged a powerful and emotionally moving performance of the renowned English play Pygmalion by the legendary playwright George Bernard Shaw, on 30 July 2025 at the R.A. Poddar Auditorium. George Bernard Shaw’s play Pygmalion, celebrated for its sharp social satire, was adapted into a film that won an Oscar in 1939. The event was graced by the presence of the College Director, Dr. Rashmi Chaturvedi, and Principal, Dr. Seema Agrawal. Addressing the gathering, Dr. Chaturvedi emphasised that such programs are vital for the holistic development of students and reflect the long standing tradition of the institution, which must continue to flourish. Dr. Agrawal commended the students for their outstanding performances, impactful delivery, and strong social messaging, describing the production as an exceptional showcase of creative talent. The play was directed by Dr. Preeti Sharma, Head of the Department of English, whose compelling direction, artistic vision, and dynamic stage presentation captivated the audience throughout. Assistant directors included Ms. Rishita Sharma, Ms. Bhavya Puri, and Ms. Aditi Pankaj. Among the lead performances, Princy Sharma showcased a wonderful portrayal of Eliza Doolittle, powerfully depicting her transformation from a humble flower-seller to a woman of grace and dignity. Niyonika Maharshi took on the role of Professor Higgins, while Palak Jain portrayed Colonel Pickering. Other characters, including Mrs. Higgins, Freddy, Mr. Doolittle, and others, were brought to life with energy and authenticity by the students of Kanoria Pg Mahila Mahavidyalaya. The success of the production was made possible by the dedicated efforts of the organising faculty team, including Dr. Tina Singh Bhadauria, Dr. Prerna Singh Lawania, Dr. Yogita Solanki, Dr. Sweety Mathur, Dr. Renu Shaktawat, Dr. Harsha Sharma, Dr. Pragati Natani, Dr. Rachna Goswami, Dr. Shuchi Choudhary, Dr. Priyanka Agrawal, Dr. Sheelu, Dr. Parul Singh, Ms. Charul Sharma, and Ms. Anjali Jalu. Additionally, the committees for costumes, makeup, editing, stage design, and event management contributed immensely to the production’s success. The play delivered a strong message, that language is not just the privilege of the upper class but has become a form of power in society. It also highlighted that a woman’s identity is not defined solely by her speech but by her self-respect, intellect, and inner strength
